Charles van der Merwe is Chief Executive Officer of Pershing Limited, an affiliate of Pershing LLC and a subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. He joined Pershing from The Bank of New York following the company’s acquisition by the Bank in May 2003. Previously, as Managing Director of BNY Global Clearing in Europe, Charles had overall responsibility for growing the business and developing products and services for both the private wealth/retail brokerage and institutional broker-dealer market segments. Prior to that, Charles was responsible for the interest rate derivatives, structured products and fixed income middle offices at J.P. Morgan Securities. He has also held financial management positions at Standard Bank of South Africa and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Charles is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
