Community Service and Philanthropy

Pershing isfully committed to supporting the communities in which we work and to enabling our employees to actively contribute to the communities in which we live and work.

Through our community service and philanthropy programmes, we take a very local approach. Working closely with organisations in close proximity to our offices in East London, Liverpool, and Dublin, we encourage active participation by sponsoring regular volunteering opportunities for all employees. We also encourage all of our employees to contribute to individually chosen charities, supporting philanthropic efforts through matched donations.

Volunteering

Employees in both our London and Liverpool offices have partnered with local schools to provide reading support for students, while employees in our Dublin office participate in a schools mentoring programme.

Philanthropy

  • Company Sponsored Fundraising
    • Throughout the year, Pershing hosts a wide variety of dress down days to raise money for charity—often to coincide with events. Last year, our employees jogged, ran, raced up buildings, cycled, raced dragon boats, baked cakes, and even grew moustaches to raise funds for charity!
  • Tax-Efficient Charitable Giving
    • Give As You Earn (GAYE) allows employees to donate to any registered charity through regular pay. Contributions are deducted prior to the payment of taxes. Last year, over 10% of our employee base donated to more than 30 charities.
    • Pennies From Heaven allows employees to round down their salary each month to the nearest pound, with the collected contributions donated to the chosen charity of the year. Last year, Pershing sponsored a guide dog, Penny, in association with Guide Dogs for the Blind, and this year, we will be supporting The British Heart Foundation.
  • Matched Giving
    • The Bank of New York Mellon Community Partnership Programme supports employees' charitable efforts by matching contributions.
